but I really feel I should nominate an albatross, if only because I love taunting Corey about them. I’ll go for the Black-browed Albatross , in celebration of the fact that conservation efforts have resulted in this species being downgraded from endangered to near threatened this year. Birding California: A Regional Primer

Yellow-billed Magpies are found just inland, and Tricolored Blackbirds can be found on Point Reyes (a legendary migrant trap) by the thousand in the fall. Of course, the Sierra Nevada is a huge mountain range, and there are countless other places to bird besides Yosemite. We have a little bit of everything here. Good gulling in winter.
