The history of Tembe Elephant Park in South Africa is a slightly unusual one. It is a good place for South African birders, as several species are found here and nowhere else in South Africa, and it holds a small number of endemics that it shares with the Mozambique lowlands. Tembe Elephant Park is a mosaic of savannah and forest.

Yup, I was rescued in Africa. While we call them “strays,” implying they just absent-mindedly wandered away from home, most of them are what the rest of the world calls “street” dogs (and cats). You prevent that dog from producing puppies, and those puppies from producing puppies, and on and on for centuries maybe.

In the list of famous step-mothers one might learn about real Angelina Jolie – Labrador Lisha, which does not have any puppies, but has already become fosterer for 30 different animals including a baby hippo and porcupine, and now she takes care of three tiger cubs. Puma rejected her children and they were given to Mary.
