I would be fascinating to know how many species of birds it was pointed at during its time with me, but it must have been well over 1,000. I’ve never quite understood why so many people wrap their scopes up in little jackets, (but nor do I understand why it’s so popular to dress dogs up in coats, too, as they are already wrapped in fur.

Dogs are able to detect diseases such as cancer and diabetes and warn humans of impending heart attacks and strokes. In many ways, human emotions are the gifts of our animal ancestors. After publishing my stories I got emails from people all over the world who had seen similar behavior in various birds and mammals.
