The Brown Pelican occurs in both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of North America and northern South America. Pelicans are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Abandoned fishing line also threatens pelicans along with many marine animals. Brown Pelicans in non-breeding plumage.
