At five-forty-five Sunday morning I started the eBird checklist while perched atop the Battery Harris Platform at Fort Tilden. We finally heard a Downy Woodpecker , a bird we had never missed on the Big Sit. It was the sixth year in a row of the Queens County Bird Club Big Sit, my favorite event of the year.

The reason for this particular camera is that I need a camera that takes AA batteries for when we are away from power for weeks on end and is not too large for travelling. There are Japanese made Eneloop Pro AA batteries that will last for over 1000 photos quite easily nowadays, so this is my ideal camera. Windjana Gorge in 2020.
