Do you love pandas? This year’s theme is “PandaQuest” which shifts the focus from panda breeding and rehabilitation in captivity to re-introduction in the wild. Pambassador finalists will participate in the current panda release plan, designed to re-introduce captive bears into the wild.

The Great Parrotbill recently unsuccessfully petitioned to be renamed to Giant Parrotbill, citing the panda example as proof of the benefits of having this name. By 2013, this ratio had increased to 7.2 ( source ). While Giant Pandas are celebrated in today’s China, this was not always the case.
