Having written weekly for this website since late 2010 and this being my 642nd post I thought I could summarise some of the posts that I have done from various places around Australia that you might have missed over the years. As 2012 draws to a close we here at 10,000 Birds thought that it would be a great idea if we, like we did in 2010 and 2011 , shared our Best Birds of the Year. This bird represented only the second documented record of this species in Florida. Adam Riley chose a bird that is near and dear to Mike Bergin’s heart.

For Corey, this was a weekend without a single standout species but with many birds that were pretty darn neat. Where Are You Birding This Second Weekend of January 2010? Moved by an unseasonable bout of optimism, I went owl-chasing this weekend and actually encountered what has been a true nemesis bird for me: Northern Saw-whet Owl !
