I feel like I need to rat myself out

In 2009 I met my best friend. The day I got her she warmed up to me right away despite being skittish at the time. I couldn’t afford to take her to the vet and I was too blind to realize she was even sick, likely calling for help. I took her to the vet only when I fully comprehended how bad she was getting.

As many of you know, 2009 was chock full of creature-related drama for me. For these reasons, my vet had no problem with me stockpiling Vetsulin. The vets say that Charles' condition doesn't warrant another surgery, and that sometimes it takes a couple of years (!) But alas, the supply has dwindled.
