We are heading to the 6 km / 4 mi long and 500 m / 1600 ft deep Tresnjica River Gorge, on a small tributary of the Drina originating on the slopes of Povlen – and a Griffon Vulture Sanctuary. Due to mass wolf poisonings in the 1960s and the 1970s, Griffon Vultures in Serbia suffered a dramatic population crash.

On Compassionate Carnivores and Betrayal

It's impersonal and hideously ugly and the animals suffer greatly. I'd say no argument here if this were some kind of sanctuary situation, and the animals were in need of a loving home for the rest of their lives. It's cruel. There's no "compassion" in the process. No argument here.

That exemption remains in force, despite Schwindaman's later attempts to overturn it.
