This Snail Kite, photographed from my treacherous 1999 Honda Accord, was right outside Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, FL. Walking right up to one and identifying it with your naked eye. This bird perenially winters on Lake Merritt, in the middle of Oakland, CA. Townsend’s Warbler in a busy city park.

Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA. Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge, North Dakota. I don’t believe in perpetual optimism (I’m just not wired for it), but I think it will do you good in this situation. Other flocks don’t come off as being so homogeneous.

My mother, mother-in-law, and godmother are all visiting right now. Blair Cessna Mar 17th, 2011 at 3:01 pm I do most of my birdwatching right from my computer chair looking out my den window to my back yard. Jochen the swallows have arrived at NYC at Jamaica Bay National Wildlife Refuge too. Wicked, right? A perfect shot.
