Kelly wondered whether the term "vegan" is " worth fighting for " given the latest trend of seemingly oxymoronish (waiting for that one to hit Webster's) terminology from the mouths of people who want to find a way to use animals, yet make it appear that they're not. Is vegan a diet ? Before 6pm, he doesn't eat animals. Maybe it is.

I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. Not great, but good. He never says he is. He is against it for himself and his family.

But the ease with which we can tell our stories and post our videos must not render us incapable of moral judgment and decency. And is video of a cow being pummeled to death with a bat worse than a cow being "processed" in a slaughterhouse? Need it be gratuitous to be offensive? What do you think?

What's interesting to me today, however, is the process of "the flip" (my term). Wrong and right are less useful and more fluid in language, but they're not in morality. ORIGINS includes items I didn't know about, and I've read far more about misconceptions of English than the average person. Do you want people to stop using animals?
