Violation of the law would be punishable by substantial fines, plus the cat owners would be required to perform community service at a local wildlife rehabilitation facility. Summer is high season.

Speaking of birds in nests, five Chilean Flamingo chicks who were raised by a human “surrogate dad” at a British wildlife center have now graduated to joining the adults in the center’s colony. Finally, identifying gulls can be tricky, but there’s one in Michigan that seems to have everyone stumped.

Evening Grosbeak, Michigan. There is a wonderful place in the lower peninsula of Michigan called Hartwick Pines State Park. It’s one of the only places in Michigan where you can walk under old growth white pines. Kirtland’s Warbler, NYC & Michigan. It has always been a difficult bird to find, even when abundant.
