He asked whether cows, chickens, sheep and some of the other animals that we eat are usually treated and killed in a humane manner. For some people, it is inhumane to eat meat in any situation, no matter how well the animal is treated prior to and during slaughter. Livestock don’t contribute to campaigns, but agribusiness does.

David Scott (D-Ga), who is the chairman of the Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee of the House Committee on Agriculture draws a line in the sand regarding the animals we use and how we use them. All we do as vegans is take a reality--the reality of the sentience of cats, dogs, horses, chickens, sheep, cows, etc.
