I believe that we have to be inclusive in the animal rights movement and attack the system using all kinds of methods in all sorts of fields. Economics, science, literature, film, politics, law, etc. Is a vegan's efforts at advocacy worth more than a vegetarian's or even a meat eater's if they happen to agree on the same issue?

In " 'Animal Rights:' Pernicious Nonsense for Both Law & Public Policy ," Massachusetts attorney and "sportsman" Richard Latimer is on the mark with some concepts, and way off with others. Now, I know you're saying: That's not what animal rights is. It has absolutely nothing to do with any genuine environmentalist ethic.

First, check out " The Vegan Solution: An Ideal Whose Time Has Come " over at Care2. And former vegan, Chuck Roomi, who says veganism isn't practical "For people who do not have a desire to eat exotic foods from thousands of miles away, or mechanically-formulated suplements" also warrants a response. So many things to say today.

mikey, my stance can be seen in the posts about Project Treadstone (and if you type Project Treadstone into the Google Search box just below my half-blind, diabetic greyhound, Violet Rays, on the right, you'll get a dozen more posts). However, I don't think (and as you allude to) the situation is black and white. Hence, it's a Gray Matter.)

Derrick Jensen comes right out of the gate mentioning Hitler (as opposed to later as per Godwin's Law ) in " Taking Shorter Showers Doesn't Cut it: Personal Change Does Not Equal Political Change ," which might annoy some people.

In other words, the Law of Attraction tells them that if they start thinking about the "evil" in the world, they will bring evil to them. Do you use the idea of "evil" in your thinking and processing of animal rights and veganism? They choose instead to focus on "higher" or "cleaner" matters.

To the Editor: Re “ Egg Producers and Humane Society Urging Federal Standard on Hen Cages ” (Business Day, July 8): I’m a vegetarian who turned vegan after coming to terms with the fact that just because I was eating hormone-free, antibiotic-free, even free-range organic eggs didn’t mean that egg-producing hens were living a cruelty-free life.
