Birding Shanghai in November 2022

Weirdly, this bird is also described as a common pest in Indonesia, responsible for substantial losses of rice. I do not have anything interesting to say about the Red-flanked Bluetail right now, but the male is a very beautiful bird. Possibly a survivor of siblicide (which would make it a killer, right?).

We follow the tire tracks in an off-white, salty soil and then, without a word of warning, our guide/driver turns into the bushes, driving left and right… until one and then another Short-eared Owl flushes in front of us. Ashy-crowned Sparrow-Lark Eremopterix grisea. The area is overgrown with low, thorny bushes.
