The conditions at the internship are honestly terrible and it has me digging into the morality of this place. The sanctuary now claims because of this dependency, they need to be fed by humans because stopping would cause the wildlife to go into local towns. Feeding wolves, bears, etc was always a big no in my eyes.

A new willingness among scientists to consider certain moral and ethical implications with respect to wild animals, where previously utilitarian ideas prevailed, including ideas of intrinsic value. The use of wildlife for subsistence purposes by human populations should not be equated with their commercial consumptive use.

Farm animals also benefit from the humane farming movement, even if the animal welfare changes it effects are not all that we should hope and work for. If the goal is not moral perfection for ourselves, but the maximum benefit for animals, half-measures ought to be encouraged and appreciated. Wolves eat sheep. Tuna eat mackerel.

Some people actually don’t consider human beings as animals. Some people think humans are superior to all other life forms. Thank God most human beings have developed a more modern view of wildlife and acknowledge that some animals display sufficient consciousness and self-awareness to deserve moral consideration.
