The animals at these shelters suffer extreme stress from deafening noise levels, horrible environmental conditions, and many other factors that contribute to behavioral problems. According to the Humane Society, over four million dogs and cats are euthanized every year with six to eight million placed in kill shelters across the country.

but a friend who volunteers for a rescue group told me of a greyhound event around the corner from my house. If you want to give a life-long home to a homeless, domesticated animal and you are fully capable of doing so, fantastic! And she does. Enter Stanley. We weren't planning to adopt another.
