Our wonderful daughter-in-law buys groceries for us each Monday, and we have a few other things delivered. Since the migratory season ended down here, I have not managed to see more than 20 species in any single day from my yard. (Milady locked herself down back in March.) Nice forest!

The law of diminishing returns brings the inevitability of repeat sightings and has checked the momentum of the combined beats’ list for June. Despite recording 370 species during the month, the list total has advanced by just 45. Just to confuse things a little, only 14 new species were recorded since June 1 st. 31 Jan 2016.

It is also a month when the Law of Diminishing Returns over-took itself. During October, 7 countries (Costa Rica, Australia, USA, India, Hong Kong, UK, Serbia) were birded by 11 beats who shared 135 checklists and noted 697 species.
