The life expectancy of greyhounds is 12-15 years. Diabetes shortens the life expectancy of human and nonhuman animals, by years. Then there's her hideous gum disease that has left her few remaining teeth in bad shape but without much to do for them (the vets won't touch them). There she is. Violet was just under four-years old.

Dr. Newest Vet sent this to me from yesterday's day at "camp" for Charles. And then it proceeds to: "None of these questions, however, make any consideration of whether it is wrong to kill animals for human consumption." Tags: Current Affairs Ethics Greyhound Matters Language.
