Birding Sepilok, Borneo (Part 2)

Recent studies in Sri Lanka have revealed that, upon sighting a predator, a drongo will imitate the alarm calls of at least 4 other bird species (babblers, laughing thrushes, bulbuls, and others), as well as the call given by the specific predator, i.e. a giant squirrel or eagle. It is also classified as Near Threatened.

Image taken in Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania. He discovered numerous new species for science including this barbet and was the first person to confirm the existence of both Gorillas and Pygmies. This image was taken in Namibia’s Erongo Mountains. Notice the attractive spotted flanks of this Spot-flanked Barbet.
