Yes, the earth has gone around the sun twice since the uproar from birders and other lovers of wildlife managed to convince the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to table the idea of hunting Sandhill Cranes in Tennessee for two years. The initiative for this hunt comes from a small group of hunters.

The Sacramento River NWR was established 1989 by the authority provided under the Endangered Species Act, Emergency Wetlands Resources Act, and the Fish and Wildlife Act. Note in this 2010 video, birders, birdwatching and kayakers are mentioned, not hunters. The State of Louisiana has increased fines for illegal killing of bears.
