I have a column on my Tweetdeck (an application for ease of Twitter use on my desktop) called "vegan," where all tweets from all tweeple who mention "vegan" are listed in somewhat real time. I'll be using his inspirational story as an example for my own friends and family. But that's just not the way it works.

On "The Age of Stupid"

And there is a family in rural England who charts their energy use and we see that food is the second highest use of energy for them (air travel takes up the most). And the wife says that one thing the family does is eat less meat and eggs (and they raise the animals on their land), but even that is glossed over. But they dismiss food.

On "EATING ANIMALS" by Jonathan Safran Foer

I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. He always refers to himself and his wife and his child as "vegetarian."

On "Pets" and "Its"

Here 's the book, and in the preview you can see that in the beginning when the gorilla being described is male he is referred to as "he." But what you don't see in the preview is that later on gorillas are referred to as "its," and when I was reading aloud and came upon that word I was unable to say it. So far so good.
