It was pretty awesome to see so many tuskers, as well as families of elephants safe in their special park. They had been the species I’ve most wanted to see, above any bird or fish or mammal, for many years, and they didn’t remotely disappoint. I’ll be writing more about them soon, when I can find the words.

If you see a flock of kestrels in southern Europe, then the chances are that they will be Lessers, for the Common Kestrel never flocks, though occasionally in summer you will see a family hunting together. The answer is likely to be a higher percentage of small mammals and birds than they take in the summer.
