That was the best possible spot we could find from our Tucson base, and given our badly stressed budget. It seems his family of 5, had rented a condo that sleeps 8, at Atlantis Resort, on Paradise Island, in the Bahamas. There just had to be a way to get around this island, without the expertise of a guide.

Last week, a good friend, Dan Weisz gave me a tip on the location of a family of Burrowing Owls that were extremely easy to access. I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had sitting and watching the antics of this family of Burrowing Owls. I am not sure what is going on with the mis-matched iris’s?

I managed to get some video of this greedy thrasher before a family walked down the path, and you can view it here. I met the group in Tucson and we spend the next week birding the hell out of the Sky Islands. There were a couple of birding festivals in progress in Arizona, and I arrived on the heels of several groups.

We have escaped the clutches of the Bahamas, and are finally back “home” in Tucson, Texas. Despite their every effort to accumulate every bit of money that was in my wallet, and available on my credit card, this island group totaling more than 700 islands does have some nice birds.
