Once used as fertilizer, the crabs are now harvested as bait for common whelk and bled for an extract used in medical research. I enjoyed looking at the photographs of the researchers and volunteers almost as much as I enjoyed looking at the bird images; it looks like fun, hard work. Ah, the photographs!
