On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. We also had Eastern Whipbirds hopping along the edge of the road tossing the leaf litter about in search of food.

Last Sunday Grant was able to leave work in the afternoon and I had researched options of places we could get to within one hour of the city of Melbourne using public transport that would offer us some birding opportunities. Early starts are the rule when monitoring endagered species in Mkuze Game Reserve, in South Africa, but there’s a particular urgency to this morning’s start.
