New England Reptile Distributers just released a video explaining a terrible incident involving the FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). FWC officers arrived at a reptile facility and forcefully killed 29 reticulated pythons, 5 Burmese pythons, and 1 pregnant Boa constrictor.

Tiphys died either of a snakebite or of a mysterious illness but he was not killed by either a tiger or a rhinoceros. This is a juvenile Grey-headed Fish Eagle , unless it is another fish eagle like the Lesser (the lack of any grey head makes me doubt the identification a bit, but it seems juveniles cannot afford a grey head yet).

Do they suffer any more or less in death? There is a rational, and for some people a spiritual, case for being a vegetarian: Killing animals is wrong. The theory that the mind finds inescapably well-formulated is often overwhelmed and overturned by human emotions. Or pig, or duck, or fish. I think not. There's no way out.
