Let me start off with being quite clear, there are no grizzly Bears on the Baja! In addition to the Grizzly Bears , I was able to photograph Woodland Buffalo , squirrels, deer, Red Fox , and even a herd of Yaks. I am actually jumping out of my assigned beat area, to share some photos from my trip to Kodiak Island Alaska.

About 40 minutes outside of Anchorage, and only a bare 20 minutes from my friends’ place in Eagle River, we visited the Eagle River Nature Center to try to pick up a few of the other northern specialties I was interested in. ” A mid-sized Grizzly Bear was slowly making its way along the opposite bank of the river.

The name “Harpy Eagle” was coined by South American explorers, and is based on the harpies of Greek Mythology. A Harpy Eagle. At 3-4 inches long , they rival those of the great Grizzly Bear, and allow the Harpy Eagles to go after prey unavailable to many other birds.
