Week Fourteen: The Center of Australia, and Sydney Part #1

Wedge-tailed Eagles roam the skies, along with Brown Falcon, Black Kites , and Nankeen Kestrels. This Wedge-tailed Eagle was sitting along side one of the roads, eyeing a small road killed Kangaroo. But the diversity, that I have found to be Australia, remains. This Pied Butcherbird was right at the base to Ayres Rock.

Lake Indoon

After arranging to meet up with my sister and her family in Kalbarri earlier this year we had looked for a suitable camping area in between Geraldton and Perth and came across the Shire of Carnamah’s website that had information on Lake Indoon. Western Grey Kangaroo. The distance was approximately 4 kilometres/ 2 1/2 miles.

Campbell Park, Canberra

As you first walk down the paths (or even park) the dominant species is not a bird but Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and lots of them. On that first evening the highlights were a Wedge-tailed Eagle that I flushed and a White-throated Treecreeper in a flock of small things that the failing light hid from identification. A Speckled Warbler.
