Serendip Sanctuary, Victoria

It is free to enter Serendip Sanctuary and as you drive or walk up the road into the parking area there are opportunities to see kangaroos and wallabies as you can see above. Chestnut Teal and Hardheads were the predominant ducks and there were several Masked Lapwings amongst them. The Cape Barren Geese had goslings when I visited.

The picnic area offers good opportunities to encounter Grey Kangaroos and they are particularly large animals. Grey Kangaroos at the Mundaring Weir picnic area. Red-capped Parrot -high in the trees! It was Western Australia’s first National park in 1900 and is set in jarrah forest and remains mostly in its natural state.

As you first walk down the paths (or even park) the dominant species is not a bird but Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and lots of them. Also present were other parrots, including the gorgeous King Parrots , the dashing Galah and the Eastern Rosella. Campbell Park, Canberra.
