Like a "BBQ, pony rides and a petting zoo!" Naturally, upon reading such words, my stomach turned and I immediately thought of making plans to be away from the house that day so I wouldn't have to see any of the festivities or try to negotiate walking the dogs around them. It's not like these people care about animals.

So in celebration, here is a fun list of Five Famous First Pets. Later, Socks was “voted out of office” because he didn’t get along with the White House dog, Buddy. First Dog from 1989-1993): George H.W. In 1989 Millie had six puppies, two of which also became White House dogs! Macaroni the pony. Socks the cat.

I recently got a chance to read a charming new book called The Dog Who Healed a Family: And Other True Animal Stories That Warm the Heart & Touch the Soul. Anyone who has ever loved a pet will relate to the power that animals can have on a person. It was a fun read, and reminded me of so many of our own stories with our pets.
