Here are some examples of when a bird definitely needs your help and a call to a federally permitted bird rehabilitator is warranted. Call and transport the bird to a bird rehabber ASAP. It needs to be properly medicated and triaged. Most likely the bird will need to be medicated for a few days “just in case.”.

Lightning Storms and Eagles

The eagle was so hypothermic I was reluctant to put her in a transport box. She chirped a quiet but definite message, and everyone in the room understood she was not done with life yet. We medicated her for maggots, picked at least 100,000 of the creepy critters from her abdomen, and finally treated the injury.
