The animals themselves identified as “civilised” and started a hunger strike in protest. Definitely, lack of songbirds. While driving along the Trekvaart canal I spotted hundreds of Tufted Duck with a nice sprinkling of Smew , Common Pochard and Common Goldeneye. Actually, no, they just starved to death for lack of care.
