Stuck in the middle (of the AOU/COS meeting)

Handing out T-shirts at the registration desk with a summer intern from the Field Museum (one of the conference’s sponsoring groups) gave me a good feel for who was around and what ornithologists are like. Like most conferences, this one had an exhibit hall and poster session, too. Oh, if I didn’t have a day job!).

This spurred her to pursue a career in environmental education and wildlife nature tourism as a park ranger in Texas and as the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail Coordinator with Florida Fish and Wildlife. It has had very few humans walk its soil and who have had little impact to this otherwise pristine nature.
