On Compassionate Carnivores and Betrayal

There's no "compassion" in the process. And regardless of how you treat someone when they're live and regardless of how you kill them, if you don't need to kill them and you're doing so merely to please your palate, how do you justify what you're doing? I wouldn't do it to a dog, and I shouldn't do it to a chicken/sheep/cow/pig.

To the Editor: Re “ PETA’s Latest Tactic: $1 Million for Fake Meat ” (news article, April 21): The commercial development of meat from animal tissue won’t result in “fake meat” any more than cloning sheep results in fake sheep. coli bacteria or food additives. There is no happy ending for even the most humanely raised animal.
