Why does this little Screech Owl look so horrified? They may have no idea what they’re doing, but their compassion overrides their doubt. We receive nestling owls who have been fed nothing but hamburger, whose bones are so brittle from lack of calcium that they break when they try to stand. A pet cat raising orphaned ducklings!

Feral geese run the gamut from pure white to almost entirely gray or brown. OpticsPlanet - Great prices on binoculars for birding , spotting scopes , telescopes , flashlights , compasses & more! Even the ones that bear the same plumage as their progenitors, however, can usually be distinguished by their larger bulk. Wicked, right?

I’ve been chasing Northern Saw-whet Owls , those adorable little predators, for years now. Every March, hope springs anew that I’ll cross paths with one of these feral fluffballs, but as April ends, so do another year’s delirious dreams. Most of my successful owl sightings depended on keener eyes than mine.
