This is the story of the pelicans of New Zealand. Australian Pelican ( Pelecanus conspicillatus ) at Centennial Park, Sydney No pelicans were recorded in New Zealand when the Europeans first arrived, and it wasn’t until 1930 that fossils of pelicans were discovered in a cave in central North Island.

We’re passing the Dasada village where shop owners and artisans are opening their doors, collecting rubbish in the street and burning it, while standing around those small fires and warming themselves up. Dalmatian Pelican Pelecanus crispus. Winter mornings are pretty cold, even without the wind-chill effect of an open Maruti Gypsy.
