I received an e-mail from the well-meaning Wendy at Compassion in World Farming (which I find an odd combination of words) regarding Egypt's pig cull and asking me to send my protest to the Egyptian Government. But though the pigs weren't originally destined for a mass grave, weren't they destined for slaughter nonetheless?

It really sucks to be a factory farm pig in Europe. In one of the biggest undercover inquiries into pig-farming, CIWF visited 60 farms across five big pork-producing states, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and Britain. Most farms made widespread but legal use of metal cages for confining pregnant pigs.

And if Compassion in World Farming wanted to see if I knew of their campaigns and might want to support them, they could have easily Googled CIWF right at Animal Person, at which point they'd find: On Compassion in World Farming. On Egypt's Pig Cull. Eat More Veal? How About Be More Honest. On Graphic Images We DON'T See.
