Sword-billed Hummingbird , Colombia Bills come in all shapes and sizes. Chickens come in at around 24, pigeons have around 40-50 and some duck species may have a whopping 400. Birds use rectal bristles (at the base of the bill) and tiny touch factories called Herbst corpuscles to detect touch. Let’s talk about taste.
