These 15 endemics and nearly 40 near-endemics (many of which were endemics until Eritrea gained independence from Ethiopia in 1991) are for the most part quite easily observed on the standard Ethiopian birding circuit. Quality time was spent with a friendly Hamar family at their homestead of grass huts surrounding their cattle corral.
