On the Keeping of Endangered Fishes

Assuming that the fish are kept in a large aquarium that mimics their natural habitat, and that the keeper treats the fish as family (as they would a rescued dog, cat, rabbit, etc.), would you see keeping these fish confined in an aquarium as a rescue effort or as a selfish act by humans that interferes with Nature?

On Helping Individuals and Utilitarianism

Or paid for food for a year at a rescue kennel. Or printed thousands of copies of vegan leaflets. The average person doesn't fund programs that cost $8,000 per cat. Of course, I have an emotional attachment to that one individual, Violet Rays. Helping individuals, financially-speaking, isn't a great use of money.
