Right at the top of the list is the awareness that your new rescue has a shady history, especially if it was a stray. 2) Does he get along well with other dogs/cats? Additionally cats frequent every neighborhood.

Or paid for food for a year at a rescue kennel. Of course, I have an emotional attachment to that one individual, Violet Rays. The average person doesn't fund programs that cost $8,000 per cat. Or printed thousands of copies of vegan leaflets. Helping individuals, financially-speaking, isn't a great use of money.
