Every year, roughly 3 million lost dogs and cats end up in shelters in the United States. Sharleen D from Arcadia, CA plans to take pictures of all the lost pets at her local animal shelter and make an album on facebook and share it with her friends. Lost pets is a growing issue that teens care about.

The event is to be held at Pacha on Thursday, October 22, 2009, and all funds raised will benefit the city’s broad rescue, shelter and adoption services. AC&C takes in all homeless pets, including the over 120 new animals on the streets every day.

You can help pets in need through the month of December by donating food, supplies or cash which will then benefit more than 70 community animal shelters across the U.S. The holiday season can be challenging for local shelters and rescues, says Renee Coughlin of Best Friends Pet Care.
