Osborn, a passionate field biologist who participates to the core of her being three re-introduction projects aimed at saving three very different, endangered species: Peregrine Falcon, Hawaiian Crow (‘Alala)*, and California Condor. Coyotes took carrion from young Condors and then killed the weakest ones. It’s not easy.

There were birders from a wide cross-section of the United States: Colorado, Ohio, Idaho, Iowa, Wyoming, Washington State, Pennsylvania, New York State, New Jersey, California, Texas, Florida. They range from the successful eradication of feral cats from Marion Island (hear that, Corey?) I am a birder, after all.

That was my first trip to California Wildlife Center. They pointed out the puncture wounds, likely infected with bacteria that could quickly kill. There’s an imperative to get this message across to cat people who, like me, can be educated to value wild lives as much as we value the lives of our four-legged family members.
