Anyway, the story is not quite how I remembered it, to be honest, but fitting enough to describe the almost claustrophobic birding experience in ever-shrinking Nanhui. Pat Fish was the creative force behind a band called Jazz Butcher – he died in October last year. Did the bird thank me? Grant me three wishes, as I expected?
