Python Caves and the Very Dangerous Bats

We were staying at the Jacana Lodge, a posh lodge perched on a small lake, as it was a convenient layover between the more touristy northern part of the park and the forest park of Bwindi (home to the gorillas). This means it has different species, and adds to the biological diversity of the park. And then there’s the bats.

This image is from Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla National Park, Uganda. The little known Red-faced is found in moist broad-leafed woodlands of very southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and remote north-west Tanzania. Gray-throated Barbet is one of the plainer members of the African Barbet family.
