This bird was photographed a few years ago in Connecticut, by Corey Finger. It was not a flycatcher at all, but an exotic (and equally bizarre) from Africa, which certainly escaped from someone’s cage or perhaps even migrated from the small breeding population of escapees in southern California.

But it is most probable that the birds are released or escaped pets. There are a lot of pet psittacines out there that escape or are released. Monk Parakeet is the only parrot species that builds its own nest. Not many survive, and very few flourish. The answer lies in the nests. And cell towers.
