EU Backing Cloned Animal Products

If this policy is adopted, European farms could be populated by cloned supersize animals used as breeding stock for cows, pigs and sheep that are reared for food. However, a leaked report to be discussed by the EU’s College of Commissioners today comes out in favour of food from the offspring of clones.

Activist Releases 1500 Mink in Oregon

About 1,500 mink were released from their cages with at least 200 of these being breeding stock. In the early morning hours of October 17th, a lone activist infiltrated the fur farm at 92659 Simonsen Road in Astoria Oregon. The fact that there is no fence around this farm should help ease their escape.

The Nonessential Whooping Crane

Another 170 are in captivity, many of them breeding stock for reintroduction efforts. Although it didn’t make the news, the fifth crane was shot in Alabama– they just didn’t find her body until two weeks later. There are 400 whooping cranes left in the wild, 100 of them in the eastern population.
