It is a bit worrying that while the Basel Zoo is listed by Google as having a page on the Red-tailed Laughingthrush , that page itself does not seem to exist anymore, and the species is not listed among the inhabitants of the aviary of the zoo. His obituary was published in Nature. Note to those readers who do not know Wham!:

But then, I am not a cooperative breeder either (nor a non-cooperative one, should this term exist). Taking photos of such a rare species is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, a study shows that photographers have a potentially negative effect on nesting. Well, they live in groups, something I would never survive.
