Waghäusel is most faaaaamous for its breeding Purple Herons. Roughly ten pairs of this predominantly Mediterranean species are breeding here, and it is basically the only place in Germany where they are. It certainly is only a matter of time until they start breeding here. In this case, we are looking at a few Pochards.
